Winston E. Lane, III, MD

Dr. Lane is certified in general psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He received his BS in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, his medical degree from the Brody School of Medicine and his residency training in psychiatric medicine at the Brody School of Medicine and Vidant Medical Center. He works with individuals 18 years and older with substance use disorders and general psychiatric concerns. Dr. Lane is a Distinguished Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association. His professional affiliations include the North Carolina Psychiatric Association, American Society of Addiction Medicine, North Carolina Medical Society, and Pitt County Medical Society.

Douglas Howard Finestone, MD

Dr. Finestone is a Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist and Adult Psychoanalyst with thirty-five years of experience treating patients with psychiatric disorders from age 18 upward. He specializes in combining the use of medication with psychotherapy to create a unique treatment plan for each individual patient. Dr. Finestone received his BA from the University of Virginia and his MD from the Medical College of Virginia - Virginia Commonwealth University. He completed his residency and chief residency in psychiatry at Duke University Medical Center. He graduated from the University of North Carolina – Duke University Psychoanalytic training program. From 1984 to 1988, Dr. Finestone was an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Psychiatry Director of the Clinical Medical Specialties Unit at Duke University Medical Center. From 1988 to 2002, he was a Professor of Psychiatry at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Since 2003, Dr. Finestone has been a psychiatrist at Greenville Psychiatric Associates, where he is assisted by his therapy dog, Prudence. Dr. Finestone is a Distinguished Lifetime Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Fellow of the American Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine. He has been awarded the Excellence in Teaching Award by the American Psychiatric Association and the Clinical Research Award by the American Academy of Clinical Psychiatrists. He has been named one of America’s Top Psychiatrists by the Consumers’ Research Council.

Venkata Jonnalagadda, MD

Specialties Include Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

Dr. Jonnalagadda is a board-certified child, adolescent and adult psychiatrist. She is an adjunct teaching faculty with the Department of Pediatrics, ECU Brody School of Medicine; and a clinical psychiatrist/Associate Chief of Staff with the Veterans Administration. Dr. Jonnalagadda is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. She resides on the Ethical and Judicial Affairs Task Force for the North Carolina Medical Society. She has been reappointed to a second three-year term with the North Carolina Commission of Public Health and has been appointed to a three-year term with the North Carolina Medical Board. Dr. Jonnalagadda’s clinical training and experience include Trauma-Focused Cognitive Processing Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Telemedicine. She also has a Systems of Care training background with abuse evaluations, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, juvenile justice, social services, deaf/hard of hearing psychiatric care, child development services and early intervention, outpatient and residential substance use treatment, and practice improvement and evidence-based care. Dr. Jonnalagadda is certified with the American Psychiatric Association (in association with the AIMS Center) training for Applying the Integrated Care Approach. She is a Fellow of the Federation of State Medical Boards; and nationally volunteers with the Integrated Care and Addiction Psychiatry Forum. She is a Recovery Ally.

Cecil A. (“Lex”) Turner III, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Mr. Turner is board certified as an Adult Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. He treats adult patients, age 18 and above. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from East Carolina University and his Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He has worked both in-patient and out-patient psychiatric settings with the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, Vidant Medical Center, and Vidant Beaufort Hospital. His areas of interest include the treatment of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and substance use disorders, including opioids, alcohol, and benzodiazepines.

Judy Henderson MS, LPC, LCAS-A

Judy is a Licensed Professional Counselor through the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate through the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board. She also has a specialty certification as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Judy received her bachelor’s degree in recreational therapy and her Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling at East Carolina University. She has over 30 years of experience working with individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. She offers individual counseling to adults struggling with anxiety and panic, addiction, and mood disorders. She has additional training and experience in grief and loss, helping others with stress management, wellness/lifestyle management, assertiveness and anger management. She is trained in heartmath and mindfulness training along with relaxation and breathing techniques. She uses an individualized treatment that includes models such as cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and heartmath.

Sara Shoemaker, MSW, LCSW, C-CATODSW, LCAS

Sara is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (through the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board) and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist through the (North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board). She also has a specialty certification as a Certified Clinical Alcohol, Tobacco, and other Drugs Social Worker (C-CATODSW) through the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at UNCW in 2004 and her Master's Degree in Social Work at East Carolina University in 2006. In the past, she also participated as a field instructor for the School of Social Work at East Carolina University and received the award for Outstanding Field Instructor in 2016. Offering individual counseling to adolescents and adults, her clinical experience includes working with individuals having difficulty with depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, trauma, low self-esteem, self-harm, stress management, self-care. She has additional experience in areas of change-of-life-issues, caregiver and leadership stress, grief and loss (including miscarriages and stillbirths). In her practice, Sara integrates mindfulness, person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and existential approaches.

Seth Burdette, MSW, LCSW, LCAS

He has over 10 years of clinical and community work with mental health and substance use disorders populations. He offers individual counseling to children (5 and up), teens and adults. His clinical experience includes working with individuals, couples, and families using an individualized approach including cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing.

Christy Trompak, MSW, LCSW, LCASA

Christy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (through the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board) and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate through the (North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board). She also has over 80 hours of specialty training and consultation in numerous trauma-related therapies specifically Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and her Master's Degree in Social Work at East Carolina University. Offering individual counseling to children, adolescents and adults, her clinical experience includes working with individuals having difficulty with depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, and mood disorders through an individualized approach. She specializes in working with patient’s that have experienced trauma through using Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills and EMDR.
